Sprayers
For spot spraying weeds and moss, a knapsack sprayer is best. These usually hold about 15 litres. It is worth buying a good quality professional sprayer which will give years of service and are comfortable to use. I recommend the Smith Performance Field King Pro which I can supply at £132 (check with me first as prices can change.
For spraying full size croquet lawns a higher capacity sprayer is essential - see below. |
The Brilliant 4.5 metre Sprayer towable or pedestrian
Sprayers are used for applying liquid fertiliser, growth regulator, wetting agent, moss killer, weed killers and pesticides. The normal dilution rate means that 45 to 50 litres is applied per lawn.
The sprayer is fitted with a North Start 8.3 lpm pump, has a tank capacity of 98 litres and a single broadcast nozzle with a spray width of 4.5 metres. There are two versions, towable or pedestrian. It takes less than 10 minutes to spray a full size croquet lawn using either version. In both cases the operator is travelling away from the spray drift when spraying.
Towable £485
This sprayer has a cable which connects to the tractor battery with a conveniently placed on/off switch next to the driver. The underframe is galvanised steel and the wheels are solid and puncture proof. There is a clevis hitch and the tow bar is removable for compact storage
Pedestrian £485
The pedestrian version has a galvanised underframe which bolts onto to a garden cart (cart not supplied). If you don't already have a cart, they are available online at around £53. Mine is an Oypla, click here to see it online. It also has a 12 volt battery and charger to drive the pump. An upgrade kit is available to convert a pedestrian sprayer to towable at a later date.
