- Cures water repellancy and reinstates water receptivity acting directly on the cause of Dry Patch. - Long lasting effective treatment. - Extremely safe to all types of turf with no adverse effects on soil microbial activity. The Curative has a mild cleansing action that targets water repellent materials in the root zone. The waxy lipids that coat sand and soil particles, making them hydrophobic, are placed in solution which can then be flushed from the root zone profile. What is Purity Soil Conditioner?
Camellia Sinensis Seeds
If you walk through the hills in certain areas of China you will see the classic waist-high clipped neatness of tea plantations, not a flower or seed anywhere to be seen on the manicured bushes. However, let those bushes grow and they become substantial trees 20 to 30ft tall. They flower and produce seeds that are about the size of a conker and similar in colour. These seeds from the Camellia sinensis tree are harvested and exploited for the tea seed oils that are squeezed from them using steam and an auger press. The tea seed saponin sources in Purity are often confused with tea tree oils which come from a totally different plant from a totally different continent. The manufacturers are continuously scouting the world for new fertiliser ingredients, especially organic ones, and many of these ingredients are by-products from other processes. They realised that the residual saponin content within the tea seeds combined with the trace elements and small amount of NPK made an ideal soil conditioner ingredient. So we devised a method to combine it with activators that made it suitable for sports and other amenity turf conditions. The tea seed pulp is dried, crushed, sieved and combined it with other ingredients to form it into Purity. How do I use Purity soil conditioner? The product spent a year on STRI (Sports Turf Research Institute) trials to establish the correct granule size and the correct application rates necessary for optimum effect. The mini 1-2mm grain size has the best action and 30 grams per square metre (300 kgs per hectare) was established as giving the best result without costing the greenkeeper and groundsman more than necessary. Purity is a product that has become the go-to saponin soil conditioner and it has amazing results in the warmer, wetter months such as September, October and March, April, and May. Moss and Disease Control x
It is quick and easy to dilute Soluble Iron crystals in cold water using a cordless drill and paint paddle.
Moss
- Moss produces spores twice a year so should be treated in Spring and Autumn to kill the moss and prevent new spores from ripening. - Moss doesn’t have a vascular system and the roots have no function except to hold onto the ground, so re-growth is caused by spores in the soil, not from roots. - The grade of Soluble Iron that I supply dissolves well even in very cold water, is widely used by professionals and works really well. - One bag is enough to treat a full size lawn eight times so is very cost-effective. There are cheaper alternatives but Iron comes in many grades and some can be hard to dissolve and very damaging to sprayers. - Iron blackens moss. I usually leave the dead moss and let the grass grow through, that way the surface isn’t disrupted. However, you can rake lightly but try not to disturb the root zone. - For spot treatment, a watering can and a fine rose can be used or a knapsack sprayer. It is important to clean the sprayer thoroughly after spraying iron because, if left, it can recrystallise and damage the sprayer. Pump plenty of clean water through the sprayer to ensure that no product is left in the pipes or pump. Disease control Red Thread, Fusarium, Dollar Spot etc. All of these diseases can be controlled by spraying Soluble Iron. For this use it would be classified as a PPP, see DEFRA regulations here.This avoids the use of fungicides which are expensive and can be detrimental to the microbial life in the rootzone. They also require Pesticide Certification and Registration. It is important to spray as soon as there are signs of attack because the iron will kill the fungus on the leaf. Once it has broken into the plant, it is too late. Use the same dilution as for moss ie 2.5kg (litres) in 50 litres of water. An added benefit is that Soluble Iron can alter the soil microbiome to be less hospitable to harmful pathogens. Wetting Agent 3 month longevity Very cost effective x
- Resolute has a longevity of 3 months. Most Wetting Agents are only effective for 4 weeks. This means that Resolute costs less to use than traditional products. - It provides a highly effective defence against localised dry patch for an extended period.
