Liquid Fertiliser Programmes

LIQUID SUMMER PROGRAMMES
Thatch - Busting Formula

The Programme explained
x
Liquid + Biogran Programme Works

- In this Programme, a granular feed is applied in April and August and Liquid Biofeed in June and July. The reason why granular is necessary in Spring and Autumn is that Bacteria and Mycorrhizal Fungi cannot be supplied in liquid form.
- Granular fertilisers are in 15kg bags because they are easy to handle and also avoid having split bags when there is an odd number of lawns. On a half lawn apply 1 bag; a full size lawn 2 bags and a bowling green 3 bags.

Biogran Fertiliser
12-6-10 3MgO Biogran slow release
- This is an organic based slow release fertiliser that is applied twice during the summer season, in April and August and releases nutrients over an eight-week period.
The number of bags per Summer programme are:
Half Lawn 2 x 15kg bags (1 in April and 1 in August)
Full Lawn 4 x 15kg bags (2 in April and 2 in August)
Bowling Green 6 x 15kg bags (3 in April and 3 in August)

BIOGRAN contains:
- A broad spectrum of bacteria and mycorrhizal fungi which encourage the breakdown of thatch into usable nutrients within the root zone.
- Seaweed which contains growth hormones and micronutrients that can enhance root development, leading to stronger and more resilient grass.
- Magnesium oxide to promote photosynthesis and plant health.
- The fertiliser is converted into usable nutrition by bacterial action. When favourable growing conditions exist (warm and moist), the bacteria are more active thus providing increased nutrients in sympathy with plant demand.
- The slow release is accomplished by incorporating longer, more complex molecules which take bacteria longer to break down. This method
does not use a polymer coating so does not add microplastics to the soil.
- Results across many croquet clubs show that Biogran fertilisers reduce thatch by about 30% per annum until an ideal level of 5 to 8mm is reached. At this point, the breakdown of thatch equals the production of thatch and therefore stays in balance.
- This system is in line with the Sports Turf Research Institute article "Do Not Disturb" and eliminates the need to remove thatch mechanically by scarification which is damaging to fine grasses.
- The fertiliser is not toxic to humans, pets or wildlife and the croquet lawn can be used immediately after application.

Liquid Biofeed Fertiliser
18-0-10 + Humates + TE
The liquid fertiliser is applied by sprayer in June and July. It is supplied in 20 litre containers.
The amount per summer programme is:
Half Lawn 10 litres (5L in June, 5L in July)
Full Lawn 20 litres (10L in June, 10L in July
Bowling Green 30 litres (15L in June, 15L in July)

- It contains Humates which are derived from humus and promote an active soil biology, helping thatch breakdown and healthy growth.
- Liquid fertiliser enters the plant mainly through the leaf and any that misses the leaf will wash into the rootzone and be absorbed by the roots. This means that the fertiliser enters the plant quickly and has the advantage that there are no granules left on the surface.

- The lawn can be used as soon as dry which is usually within an hour.

- The fertiliser can be tank mixed with Wetting Agent and Soluble Iron.

Safety

- The fertilisers are not toxic to humans, pets or wildlife and the croquet lawn can be used immediately after application, allow an hour for liquid fertiliser to dry.

Nutrient input
The programme inputs the following amounts of nutrition
Summer
N - 118.8 kg/hectare
P - 26.4 kg/hectare
K - 107.9 kg/hectare
The inputs of P and K are equal to plant demand. Building up phosphates in the soil can lead to an oversupply, which can result in a number of negative environmental effects. One of the main concerns is that excess phosphates can lead to the growth of harmful algae blooms in nearby water bodies. This decreases the oxygen levels in the water, which can harm fish and other aquatic life. Additionally, the overabundance of phosphates can also lead to an increase in weed growth and a decrease in the overall health of the soil. It is important to use phosphates in the soil in moderation to maintain a healthy balance.

-The Liquid Winter Feed 18 0 10 is the same analysis as the Summer Biofeed. It is simply applied at a quarter strength making it an economical way of maintaining a healthy sward during the winter months. Diluted Soluble Iron can also be added to the tank to control moss and fungal diseases.
Nutrient input
The Winter programme inputs the following amounts of nutrition

N - 20.7 kg/hectare

P - 0 kg/hectare
K - 9.5 kg/hectare

How much Winter feed do you need?
The product is supplied in 20 litre containers. Use the following information to calculate the quantity required.
