Removable towing handle included with both versions
60 litre Brilliant Sprayer (inc delivery) £

98 litre Brilliant Sprayer(inc delivery) £

Sprayer tow bar and hitch for ATCO trailing seat £

Sprayer tow bar for lawn tractor £

WARNING It is important to rinse the sprayer thoroughly after use. Be sure to pump plenty of clean water through the pipes and pump so that no product is left in the sprayer. This is particularly important if soluble iron is used because it can recrystallise and damge the pump.
  • The 60 litre version is 1200 long, 700 high 480 wide
  • The 98 litre  version is  1200 long, 900cm high 480 wide
  • Actual spray width = 14 feet (4.26 m) but allowing for feathering and overlap 4 yards (3.6 m)
  • Flow valve can reduce spray wdth to 8 feet (2.4 m)
  • Removable manual towing handle included.
  • The tank is strong polypropylene for long life
  • Drain plug for easy emptying.
  • Four pneumatic tyres to spread the load.
  • Roller bearings on all wheels.
  • Geometric steering for stability when cornering
  • 8.3 litre per minute 12 volt pump
  • A filter is located in the tank on the feed pipe. It is easy to remove and easy to clean.
  • A 12 volt 12ah battery and charger with override switch.
  • Transmitter for remote switching
  • Wireless remote on/off switch and safety neck strap with breakaway and swivel metal clip.
  • A single broadcast nozzle is fitted 8" (20cm) above the ground at the rear of the sprayer. It sprays horizontally in a flattened semicircle.
  • The nozzle has a large orifice so is not prone to blockages and is easy to clean.
  • Large droplet spray pattern for minimal drift and better penetration.
  • Sprays close to the ground cutting under the breeze.
  • Sprays 50 litres of product in 10 minutes
Having a broadcast sprayer makes croquet lawn maintenance much easier.
  • Liquid fertiliser - enters the plant through the leaf so is quick acting and doesn't leave granules on the surface.
  • Wetting Agent can be mixed in the tank with fertiliser and will prevent the development of Dry Patch. If you already have a Dry Patch problem, you can use the sprayer to apply Dry Patch Curative.
  • Soluble Iron is very low cost and can be used to control Moss and fungal diseases such as Red Thread, Dollar Spot and Fusarium.
In my view most sprayers are far too expensive and often not suitable for croquet lawns. For this reason I now build my own brand of sprayers designed specifically for croquet lawns and based on generic tanks and branded pumps.
The sprayers have geometric steering for stability and four pneumatic tyres to spread the load.
A 12ah battery is supplied to drive the pump and is easy to remove for charging. Each sprayer is fitted with a transmitter and a handheld remote on/off switch providing wireless control of the pump by the operator. There are no trailing cables.
Sprayers are fitted with 8.3 litres per minute pumps and have a tank capacity of 60 litres or 98 litres. There is a single broadcast nozzle with a spray width of 4 yards (3.6 metres). The normal dilution rate means that 50 litres is applied per lawn.  It takes ten to twelve minutes to spray a full size croquet lawn and the operator is travelling away from the spray drift. The nozzle has a large orifice so is not prone to blockages and is easy to clean.
Pedestrian or Towable
The 60 litre version can be pulled by hand or towed, the 98 litre is only suitable for towing due to weight. A clevis hitch tow bar is available for towing using a lawn tractor or lawn mower if fitted with a trailing seat. I can supply a standard bolt-on hitch for Atco trailing seats, you would have to drill four 8mm holes in the roller frame to accept the hitch.
WARNING It is important to rinse the sprayer thoroughly after use. Be sure to pump plenty of clean water through the pipes and pump so that no product is left in the sprayer. This is particularly important if soluble iron is used because it can recrystallise and damge the pump.
Geometric steering
Geometric streering
This sprayer really is a delight to use. It sprays evenly across the 4 yard spray width and only takes ten minutes or so to spray a full size lawn. The four pneumatic tyres spread the load so it is gentle on lawns. The wireless on/off switch dangles round your neck on a lanyard so is always to hand. The tank has a drain plug at the rear making it easy to rinse through and clean the tank. The broadcast spray nozzle is quite special and is made in Great Britain. It is mounted 8 inches above the ground and sprays horizontally in a flattened semicircle. It close proximity to the ground substantially reduces any wind effect and there is little or no drift. The nozzle can be removed and cleaned if necessary but isn't prone to blocking like the fine nozzles that are used on boom sprayers.
Towing by hand is better limited to a 50 litre load unless you are a fitness freak. The 60 sprayer tows very well behind my Atco Ride-on Mower and it corners easily. With a full 98 litre load the mower is a bit harder  to turn easier as the load diminishes. A lawn tractor tows both sprayers easily.

I have three sprayers, a Cooper Pegler, Berthoud and FK Pro. I use the CP15 for spraying Glyphosate exclusivley so there is no danger of killing anything important. It works well but is not particularly comfortable to wear which is why I have relegated it to Round Up duties. The Berthoud is more expensive at around £160 and is nearly as comfortable to wear as the FK Pro. The Berthoud is quieter in use but I still prefer the FK Pro. This sprayer will last for years so is an excellent investment.
