What is in the boxes?
When delivered by courier, the sprayer come in two boxes.
1/. The white box contains the spray tank and two spanners that are taped to the top of the tank.
2/. The black box contains:
  1. The cart assembly.
  2. Battery and charger.
  3. The remote switch and safety lanyard.
  4. Four stainless steel bolts with nuts and washers.
  5. The pulling handle and D pin.
Assembly
1/. Attach the tank to the cart using the bolts provided. It must be fitted with the drain plug at the rear. Green tape on the tank and cart show where one of the front bolts go. Fitting these bolts can be fiddly and it may be necessary to lift up the tank a little to jiggle the last one into place.  Tighten the nuts and bolts using the spanners provided.
2/. Attach the feed pipe to the flow valve. A jubilee clip is provided, you will need a flat bladed screwdriver to tighten. Dipping the pipe into a cup of hot water makes it easier to fit the pipe.
3/. Plug the 12 volt cable into the pump.
4/. Place the battery into the cradle and attach the  push-on connectors to the battery. Red to red, black to black. The battery is supplied fully charged.
5/. Dry test. Switch on the rocker switch and check that the the remote button activates the pump. Do not run in dry mode for long.
Using the Brilliant sprayer
  • Part fill the tank with water.
  • Add my 18 0 10 Ha Liquid Biofeed and (optionally) - Resolute Wetting Agent and/or pre-mixed Soluble Iron.
  • Top up with water to required level (50 litres for one croquet lawn)
  • Agitate.
  • Take the sprayer to the lawn and turn on the flow valve. Switch on the battery using the rocker switch in the battery cradle. Use the remote switch to switch the pump on or off. Walk or drive at a steady pace using an overlapping pattern. Calibration of your speed and details of the overlapping pattern are here Spraying and Spreading
  • When you switch off the sprayer the nozzle will drip because it is lower than the pump. To stop this happening turn off the flow valve.
  • AN EASY MISTAKE TO MAKE ..... if you try to start the sprayer with the control valve closed, the pump will start but immediately stop because it is pressure sensitive. You can be forgiven for thinking that the battery is flat or the pump broken - that is what I thought when it happened to me! Just open the flow valve and all will be well.
Maintenance of the Brilliant Sprayer.
  • After use, remove the cap from the drain plug at the rear of the sprayer. Spray the inside of the tank to remove any residue and rinse out the tank. Always pump plenty of fresh water through the pump after use especially after using Soluble Iron. If Soluble Iron is left in the pipes and pump it can re-crystallise and ruin the pump.
  • Check and clean the filter if necessary. This is located at the end of the flow pipe in the tank and can easily be removed for cleaning.
  • The spray nozzle sprays horizontally behind the sprayer in a flat semicircle. The angle of spray can be adjusted by unscrewing the jubilee clip and retightening after adjustment.
  • The spray nozzle is an "anvil" nozzle and can be cleaned by removing the anvil plate with a screwdriver. Clean with a soft toothpick if necessary.
  • Be careful when tank mixing because some products fall out of suspension when mixed and can block the filter. My products detailed above mix perfectly. Other products may not do so. If in doubt do a test mix in a glass first.
  • Inflate the tyres with a foot pump from time to time to about 10psi.
  • Charge the battery after each use.
  • In winter it is a good idea to pump some anti-freeze through the pump or insulate the pump so that it cannot freeze.
